What it does
This tool cuts the main subject out of a photo and removes everything behind it. It uses an AI segmentation model (IS-Net) that runs entirely in your browser, on the graphics card when available, so nothing is uploaded and there is no limit on how many photos you process. The result is a PNG with a transparent background, or with the solid color you choose.
How to use it
- Choose, drop or paste a photo.
- Wait a moment while the background is removed; the first use also downloads the AI model.
- Pick a transparent, white or colored background and download the result as PNG or JPG.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and the photo is processed on your own device. It is never sent to our server or anyone else.
Why is the first use slower?
The first time, the browser downloads the AI model (about 90 MB). After that it stays in the cache, and each photo takes about a second on most devices.
What size is the result?
The same proportions as your photo, up to 4096 pixels on the longest side on a computer and 2048 on a phone, which is enough for online stores, social media and documents.
Which photos work best?
Photos with a clear main subject in focus: people, products, animals, cars or objects. Busy scenes, glass and very fine hair are the hardest cases.
