Stuck Pixel Fixer
A stuck pixel stays lit in one color, usually red, green or blue, because a sub-pixel is stuck open. Flashing colors very fast over it for a few minutes sometimes gets it working again. Place the flashing box over the pixel, or flash the whole screen.
Your screen: —
This tool flashes bright colors rapidly. Do not use it if you or anyone who can see the screen has photosensitive epilepsy or is sensitive to flashing lights. Do not look at the flashing area while it runs.
How to use it
- Find the stuck pixel with the dead pixel test and note where it is.
- Read the warning, tick the box and click Flash a box. Drag the box over the pixel.
- Let it run for 10 to 20 minutes without looking at it, then check again. Repeat a few times if the pixel changes but does not fully recover.
Frequently asked questions
Can a stuck pixel really be fixed?
Sometimes. Fast color changes can free a sub-pixel that is stuck, and it may take several sessions. There is no guarantee, and a dead pixel that stays black on every color usually cannot be fixed by software.
Can flashing colors damage my screen?
Showing changing colors is what a screen does all day with video, so a session of a few minutes is not harmful. Avoid pressing or rubbing the screen to fix a pixel, as that can cause more damage.
Which speed should I choose?
Start at 10 Hz. If nothing changes after a few sessions, try 30 or 60 Hz; your browser cannot go faster than the refresh rate of your screen.
