Kilogram

The kilogram-force ( kgf or kg F ), or kilopond ( kp , from Latin: pondus , lit. 'weight'), is a gravitational metric unit of force. It is equal to the magnitude of the force exerted on one kilogram of mass in a 9.80665 m/s 2 gravitational field (standard gravity, a conventional value approximating the average magnitude of gravity on Earth). Therefore, one kilogram-force is by definition equal to 9.806 65 N. Similarly, a gram-force is 9.806 65 mN, and a milligram-force is 9.806 65 μN.

Atomic Mass Unit

The unified atomic mass unit (u), also called the dalton (Da), is a unit of mass defined as one-twelfth of the mass of a carbon-12 atom at rest in its ground state, equal to approximately 1.66054 × 10⁻²⁷ kilograms. It is the standard unit used in chemistry and biochemistry for expressing atomic and molecular masses. The atomic mass unit facilitates comparison of the relative masses of atoms and molecules without requiring very small absolute numbers.
