Kilogram-force

The kilogram-force ( kgf or kg F ), or kilopond ( kp , from Latin: pondus , lit. 'weight'), is a gravitational metric unit of force. It is equal to the magnitude of the force exerted on one kilogram of mass in a 9.80665 m/s 2 gravitational field (standard gravity, a conventional value approximating the average magnitude of gravity on Earth). Therefore, one kilogram-force is by definition equal to 9.806 65 N. Similarly, a gram-force is 9.806 65 mN, and a milligram-force is 9.806 65 μN.

Carat

The carat (ct) is a unit of mass used for gemstones and pearls, equal to exactly 200 milligrams (0.2 grams). It was standardized internationally in 1907 and is now universally used in the gem trade worldwide. The carat is subdivided into 100 points (each 2 mg), allowing precise grading of diamonds and other precious stones. It should not be confused with the karat, which measures gold purity.
