The nanogram (ng) is a unit of mass equal to one-billionth of a gram (10⁻⁹ g), formed by applying the SI prefix nano- to the gram. It is used in biochemistry, pharmacology, and analytical chemistry to quantify extremely small amounts of substances. Hormone concentrations in blood, for example, are frequently reported in nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL).
