The tetradrachm was an ancient Greek silver coin and weight unit equal to four drachmas, approximately 13.6 grams in the Attic standard. It was one of the most widely circulated coins in the ancient Mediterranean world and is referenced in the New Testament as the stater used to pay the temple tax.
