What it does

Pix is Brazil's instant payment system, run by the Central Bank. A Pix QR code is a line of text in the BR Code format: the key, the recipient's name and city, and optionally an amount, each in a numbered field and closed by a checksum. Any bank app reads it, fills in the payment and asks the payer to confirm. The code made here is static: it can be paid as many times as you like, which suits a shop counter, a donation or a bill split among friends. The key is checked before anything is drawn, including the check digits of a CPF or CNPJ, because a code with one wrong digit would still scan perfectly and send the money nowhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose the key type and type the key. A CPF or CNPJ can go with or without dots and dashes.
  2. Fill in the name and city as registered at your bank. The amount is optional.
  3. Download the QR code or copy the Pix copy-and-paste code, and test it with your own bank app before sharing it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe? Does the site see my key?
The code is built in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. Even so, a Pix QR code only contains what you type (your key, name and city) and can only receive money, never take it.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic Pix code?
A static code, like the ones made here, is fixed text that can be paid many times, with or without an amount. A dynamic code is created by a bank or payment provider for a single charge and points to a web address with the details; only they can issue it.

Why are the accents removed from the name?
The standard limits the name to 25 characters and the city to 15, and some readers count bytes rather than letters, so an accented letter could break the whole code. The bank app shows the payer the name from your bank registration anyway, not the one written in the code.

Can I leave the amount empty?
Yes. Without an amount, the payer's app asks how much to send. With an amount, it arrives filled in, and the payer still confirms before paying.

The bank app says the code is invalid. What now?
Check the key first: a phone key must include the area code, and a random key must be copied whole. Then make sure the key really is registered in your bank's Pix area. The copy-and-paste code below the QR has the same content as text, so pasting it in the app is a quick way to test.
