Erg per second

The erg per second (erg/s) is a unit of power in the centimetre–gram–second (CGS) system of units. One erg is defined as the amount of work done by a force of one dyne over a displacement of one centimetre, equal to 10−7 joules. Therefore, one erg/s equals 10−7 watts. It was historically used in physics and astronomy, particularly in the CGS-based literature, before the widespread adoption of SI units.
