Convert boiler horsepower to watts
Boiler Horsepower
Boiler horsepower (hp(S)) is a unit of power used to measure the output of steam boilers, equal to the energy required to evaporate 34.5 pounds of water per hour from and at 212°F, equivalent to approximately 9,809.5 watts. It is the largest of the common horsepower variants and is used primarily in the North American boiler and steam engineering industries. One boiler horsepower equals approximately 13.15 mechanical horsepower.
Watt
The watt (symbol: W ) is a unit of power. In the International System of Units (SI) it is defined as a derived unit of 1 joule per second, and is used to quantify the rate of energy transfer. In SI base units, the watt is described as kg⋅m 2 ⋅s −3 , which can be demonstrated to be coherent by dimensional analysis. The watt is named after James Watt, an 18th-century Scottish inventor.
