Trim Video
Trim video online for free: cut the start and end of an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM clip without losing quality, in seconds. Your video never leaves your browser.
What it does
This tool cuts a part out of a video: set where the clip starts and ends, play it to check, and save it. In lossless mode the compressed video is copied as it is, from the key frame before your start, with an edit list that tells players to begin exactly at your start time, so it takes seconds and there is no quality loss. A few editors and old players ignore edit lists and show those extra frames; for them, choose re-encode, which cuts at the exact frame and takes longer.
How to use it
- Choose the video you want to cut.
- Set the start and end, typing the times or playing the video and using the current position.
- Click Trim video and download the clip.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cut out a part from the middle of a video?
This tool keeps one continuous part. To remove a section from the middle, trim the part before it and the part after it as two clips; any video editor can join them.
Is my video uploaded? Is there a size limit?
Nothing is uploaded: the file is read and converted on your device. The limit is your device's memory, since the result is built in memory before you download it. About 2 GB works on most computers; phones handle less.
Which browsers does it work in?
Copying, trimming, muting and rotating work in any modern browser. Re-encoding uses the WebCodecs video encoder of Chrome and Edge, Safari 16.4 or later and Firefox 130 or later. On a computer it is often faster than the video plays.
Which formats can I open?
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and MPEG-TS (.ts) files with H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9 or AV1 video. HEVC needs a device with HEVC decoding, which most recent phones and computers have.
