Video to MP4 Converter

Convert MOV, MKV, WebM and TS videos to MP4 for free. H.264 videos are copied in seconds with no quality loss; others are re-encoded. Nothing is uploaded.

The video is processed in your browser: it is not uploaded anywhere.

What it does

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the format that plays on every phone, computer, TV, editor and website. This converter reads MOV, MKV, WebM and MPEG-TS files. When the video inside is already H.264 or HEVC, it is copied into the MP4 container without re-encoding, which takes seconds and keeps the exact quality. Other codecs, such as VP8, VP9 and AV1, are re-encoded to H.264 by your browser's video encoder.

How to use it

  1. Choose the video you want in MP4.
  2. See whether it will be copied or re-encoded, and click Convert to MP4.
  3. Download the MP4 file.

Frequently asked questions

Can it convert AVI or WMV files?
No. AVI and WMV are old formats whose codecs browsers cannot read, so a tool that runs in the browser cannot open them. Use a desktop program such as VLC or HandBrake for those.

Is my video uploaded? Is there a size limit?
Nothing is uploaded: the file is read and converted on your device. The limit is your device's memory, since the result is built in memory before you download it. About 2 GB works on most computers; phones handle less.

Which browsers does it work in?
Copying, trimming, muting and rotating work in any modern browser. Re-encoding uses the WebCodecs video encoder of Chrome and Edge, Safari 16.4 or later and Firefox 130 or later. On a computer it is often faster than the video plays.

Which formats can I open?
MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and MPEG-TS (.ts) files with H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9 or AV1 video. HEVC needs a device with HEVC decoding, which most recent phones and computers have.
