WebP to PNG Converter
Free WebP to PNG converter. Turn WebP images into PNG files that keep transparency and open in any editor, right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
What it does
Converting WebP to PNG gives a file that every image editor and older program can open, keeping transparency and every pixel of the WebP as it is. The PNG is usually larger, because it stores the image without compressing away any detail.
How to use it
- Choose the images from your device. They are read in the browser and go no further.
- Pick the format to convert to and, for JPG and WebP, the quality.
- Convert, then download each image or all of them together in a ZIP file.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG keeps the WebP exactly as it is; it cannot restore detail a lossy WebP already discarded. It just stops any further loss when the image is edited and saved again.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Choose as many as you like; each one is converted in turn and listed with its size before and after. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP file.
Will my phone photos come out the right way up?
Yes. Phones often save photos lying on their side with a note saying which way is up. The converter applies that note, so the new file is upright in any program, even those that ignore it.
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Yes, in any browser. Safari opens HEIC by itself; in Chrome, Firefox and Edge the converter first loads a HEIC decoder, about 1.5 MB, the first time you choose a HEIC photo. The photo is still read only in your browser.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. They are read by your browser and the PDF is built in the page itself. There is no upload and nothing is stored, and once the page has loaded it keeps working with the network switched off.
