Dalton

The dalton (Da), also known as the unified atomic mass unit (u), is a unit of mass defined as one-twelfth of the mass of an unbound carbon-12 atom at rest in its ground state. It is approximately equal to 1.66054 × 10⁻²⁷ kg. The dalton is widely used in chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology to express the masses of atoms, molecules, and subatomic particles. It is named in honor of English chemist John Dalton.
