Shekel (Biblical Hebrew)
The Hebrew shekel was the basic satuan massa in the ancient Hebrew weight system, estimated at kira-kira 11.4 grams. Originally a unit of weight for silver, the shekel was also used as a monetary denomination and is mentioned extensively in the Old Testament.
