Poundal
The poundal (pdl) is a unit of force in the foot–pound–second (FPS) absolute system, defined as the force required to accelerate a mass of one pound-mass at a rate of one foot per second squared. One poundal is equal to approximately 0.138255 newtons, making it considerably smaller than the pound-force. Unlike the pound-force, the poundal does not depend on the local gravitational acceleration, making it an absolute unit. It was introduced in the 19th century to provide a coherent absolute unit system analogous to the CGS dyne.
