Word to PDF
Free Word to PDF converter: turn a .docx into a PDF with the same pages, fonts, tables, images, headers and footnotes, right in your browser. No upload.
What it does
This Word to PDF converter turns a .docx document into a PDF in your browser, laying out the pages the way Word does: the same line breaks, page breaks, margins, headers and footers with page numbers, footnotes, tables with merged cells and shading, numbered and bulleted lists, columns, images, links and landscape sections. It uses free fonts with exactly the same letter widths as Calibri, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New, so the text breaks in the same places as in Word, and it supports Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and many other scripts. The document never leaves your computer.
How to use it
- Choose the .docx file or drag it onto the box.
- Press Convert to PDF. Only the fonts the document needs are loaded; documents in Chinese, Japanese or Korean take a little longer the first time.
- Open the PDF to check it, or download it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your own device, so it is safe for confidential documents. Only the fonts are downloaded from this site; your file stays on your computer.
Will the PDF look exactly like the document in Word?
Very close. The pages are laid out with the same rules as Word, and the fonts used instead of Calibri, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New have exactly the same letter widths, so lines and pages break in the same places. Fonts that are not freely available are replaced by similar ones, which can move some line breaks.
Can I convert old .doc files?
Not directly. The old .doc format is a different, closed format. Open the file in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, save it as .docx, and convert the new file here.
What is not converted?
Charts, SmartArt graphics and images in the old EMF and WMF formats are not drawn, equations appear as plain text, and text boxes are placed after their paragraph. When a document contains any of these, the page tells you after the conversion.
Can I copy and search the text in the PDF?
Yes. The text is real text with embedded fonts, not an image, so it can be selected, copied and searched, including Arabic, Hindi and other scripts. Links in the document remain clickable.
